Donald Hughes is a highly experienced professional bringing over 35 years of banking experience to Elliot Paul & Company. His career includes extensive involvement on all facets of commercial, residential real estate and consumer lending as well as underwriting, credit analysis, credit risk review, portfolio management, due diligence and business refinancing.
Donald also specialized in commercial and residential real estate loan workouts during the difficult real estate market of the 1980's and 1990's serving as Vice President of Special Assets and President of various service corporations for Harbor Federal Savings Bank. During this period he oversaw the Real Estate Owned department and directly managed the larger assets with responsibility for administration, staffing, marketing, development and sales. Donald served on many Condominium, Homeowners Association and Development District Boards when projects were being sold. His largest project was a 32,000-lot project. He worked with partners, borrowers, buyers, contractors, brokers and City, County & State officials to successfully operate, develop, market and sell the various assets owned.
Donald saw the real estate market becoming stressed and retired from banking in March 2006 to spend time traveling with his wife Lee. They now spend six months of each year traveling in their motor home. The other six monts are spent at home in Palm City, Florida.
While at home Donald works as an associate with Elliot Paul & Company to assist Banks and borrowers with the efficient sale of their real estate. He came to believe in the Auction Method of Marketing during those difficult real estate years when he oversaw troubled assets and found, first hand, that Auctions were the best way to limit risks and bring about a quick and efficient sale.
